Ashi Studio Fall 2024 Couture: Sculptured Clouds

Where nature meets melodrama.

Ashi Studio took over the Monnaie de Paris to showcase their Fall 2024 Couture Collection titled Sculptured Clouds. The room was darkened and paired with booming sounds that aimed to create an other-worldly atmosphere full of melodrama.

Mohammed Ashi, founder of Ashi Studio, was frank on what he wanted this collection to translate to consumers: “My collection is born of pure emotions, translating the human experience.”

“At the creative onset, feelings appeared like flashes to me — courage and determination, grace, and protection. I imagine a world where the soul moves from one place to another.”

To achieve this, the catwalk rounded the space as the audience were immersed in the Studio’s latest avant-farce designs with the motif of elements of nature. Colors ranged from black to cream and white for a neutral aesthetic that allowed the clothes to shine.

Structured garments juxtaposed the array of styles and textures centered for this collection, which allowed for silhouettes that dabbled between the hard and soft, and the feminine and the masculine.

To further fit into the theme of nature, models wore slicked back buns and minimal makeup to let their features and clothes do the talking. The aim of this was to represent Ashi’s “muse [who] is the woman who is always searching. She embraces her fate, whatever it may be.”

He did just this with elegant floor length black dresses that felt decadent in nature. One in particular had a plunging neckline and a caped effect. Elsewhere, organic geometry informed pieces embellished with grape-like clusters. There was also a skirt heavily barnacled in twists of wool.

However, the statement piece, for us, was a fully sequined cocoon coat that appeared to have been borrowed from a peacock mosaic spied in a lavishly aristocratic powder room in an unspecified location.

Beautiful is an understatement - a statement we could apply to the entirety of their offerings this season.
