Brat has taken the world by storm since its release on June 7th. The album by Charli XCX can be classified as an iconic piece of pop culture as ‘Brat Summer’ was in full effect all season long. The hyper-pop album features numerous viral tracks such as ‘Apple’, ‘Von Dutch’, and ‘Guess’.

While many fans anticipated the end of the Brat era as August drew to a close, Charli XCX clarified that Brat is here to stay all year long. The singer announced on September 12th through social media that she is dropping a new album titled ‘Brat and it’s completely different but also still brat’.

The album will be released on October 11th, which has caused excitement among fans who get to enjoy a ‘Brat summer’ all year round.

What Can We Expect?

Charli XCX has been known for her direct and straight-to-the-point wording and lyricism. Therefore, such an album title tells us exactly what we need to know – the album is still associated with Brat yet features new tracks.

This is confirmed through her Spotify page, which has a release countdown that showcases a tracklist preview.

The preview shows that the new album has thirty-four songs; this includes the original eighteen songs from the deluxe version of the album, the five collaborations with other artists that she has already released, and eleven new songs. These new songs are not named, so it can be assumed that they are either entirely new songs or new collaborations with other artists on pre-existing tracks.

This new album was announced on the same day the track ‘Talk talk featuring Troy Sivan’ was released. Troye Sivan puts his spin on the track with a new verse; the track’s beat is also slightly remixed from the original version.

Charli XCX has kept the momentum going through these collaborations. Notably, ‘Guess featuring Billie Eilish’ and ‘Girl, so confusing featuring Lorde’ have boosted the popularity of the tracks. The original version of Brat has no features, so these collaborations have allowed fans to view the songs from a new perspective.

Fans have continued to speculate about upcoming collaborations, as it was rumored that Taylor Swift would feature on Charli XCX’s song ‘Sympathy is a knife’. However, people will have to remain patient until October 11th to discover what new directions the Brat era will take.
