If you're not already familiar with Celine Love, she's been making waves in the music scene with her mesmerizing vocals and unique storytelling. This rising star has become a mainstay on London's vibrant live music circuit, and it's no surprise why.
'Candy Eyes' is a love letter to the British summertime, and it's just what we needed to brighten up our days. Produced by the talented Ian Barter, who has worked with artists like Paloma Faith, Izzy Bizu, and Gabrielle, the song blends breezy guitar riffs with Celine's dreamy and whimsical vocals. It's the perfect soundtrack for those long summer days filled with love and romance.
Speaking about the track, Celine shares her inspiration, "I had a session scheduled with Ian Barter and didn't quite know what to expect. After a couple of seconds hearing the demo instrumental for what ended up being 'Candy Eyes,' I knew that this track had to be an ode to summer. I was also freshly in love, so the lyrics just spilled out of me!"
But that's not all – Celine's magic moment in the studio took her by surprise. She admits, "I left the session thinking 'surely I'll have to re-record the vocals and change some lyrics,' but Ian sent over the track a couple of days after, and my jaw dropped at the final result. It's the most vocally free I've ever felt, and I think that freespirit feeling shines through on the track."
The song captures the early months of a relationship, the so-called honeymoon phase, where everything feels magical and invincible. Whether you've experienced it yourself or not, 'Candy Eyes' will surely make you feel the warmth and excitement of young love.
But who is Celine Love beyond her music? Well, her background is as captivating as her melodies. Of African-American, Jamaican, and German descent, she brings a unique perspective to her music. Growing up in a family of professional musicians, she was destined to pursue her dreams. From singing backing vocals for her mom to performing at events with her father, music has always been in her blood. And at just 12 years old, she picked up the guitar and never looked back.
Celine's biggest inspirations include artists like Alessia Cara, Lianne La Havas, and Ama Lou, and you can hear the blend of their influences in her heartfelt R&B-Pop with Folk storytelling sensibilities. An Aquarius and a chronic overthinker, she thrives on experimenting with her music and expressing a wide range of emotions through her heartfelt lyrics.
