Casii Stephan's New Single Mocks Her Abuser
Her music gives courage and hope to all women.
Usually, the portrayal of women who experienced abuse is predominantly impacted by a trope of hurt and agonizing victims. While this image is undoubtedly valid, on other hand, pop culture lacks contrastive and empowering direction in this matter. Casii Stephan, an artist inspired by Fiona Apple and Carole King, decided to change this state of affairs.
Her newest single, 'Already Gone', tells a story of a woman's journey leaving her abuser but instead of emphasizing her pain, she uses irony and dark humor to mock him. 'I don't think this is ever advised but this is a hype song,' explains Casii. 'May it give someone the extra push they need to run. Trust your soul. Go.'
This is not the first time Casii Stephan means to empower her audience as she generally draws her inspirations from hope. 'It's such a cliched word and yet there are so many layers to it. Hope keeps us alive' reflects Casii. 'Some days its presence is stronger than we realize and some days we forget in our day-to-day lives that it's there, keeping us forward.'
'Already Gone' by Casii Stephan is everything we need in music; catchy yet rock vibe, soulful vocal, and a great sense of empowerment.
