Bumble, the leading “women-first” dating app, has revealed its much-anticipated dating trends for 2025, giving singles valuable insights into navigating relationships in the coming year. Drawing from a survey of over 40,000 Gen Z and Millennial users, the report showcases how dating dynamics in Germany and globally are shifting towards greater transparency, emotional depth, and authenticity.

A Year for Real Romance: The Rise of ‘Micro-mance’

Romance is making a comeback in 2025, but not in the grandiose form of sweeping gestures. Instead, it’s all about ‘micro-mance’—small, meaningful expressions of love that resonate deeply. Bumble’s data indicates that 86% of singles worldwide value everyday acts of affection, such as sharing a favorite meme, curating playlists, or taking morning walks with coffee. Over half of German women (51%) view love as one of the most important aspects of life, craving these authentic moments of connection.

Dating as Reality TV: The ‘Date With Me’ Trend

The intersection of dating and digital content is set to grow in 2025. Bumble’s survey found that 41% of singles are embracing more authentic content that reflects both the highs and lows of relationships, making dating feel like a shared experience akin to a reality show. This transparency helps normalize challenges in relationships, with 51% of German women saying it makes them feel less isolated and more secure. Additionally, 36% noted that positive, honest dating content boosts their confidence in their own romantic journey.

Shared Passions as Attraction: Finding Your ‘Fan Page’ Match

Interest-based dating is evolving as niche communities and shared hobbies become important. Nearly half (46%) of singles see unique interests as attractive qualities. For 49% of women worldwide, being open about hobbies helps build genuine connections. In Germany, this trend is reflected in Bumble’s introduction of over 30 new interest badges, from thrifting to plant care, making it easier to find like-minded matches.

Rethinking Male Archetypes: Breaking Stereotypes

Conversations around male stereotypes surged in 2024, and this dialogue is shaping dating expectations for 2025. Bumble reports that 27% of men globally feel boxed in by outdated archetypes. The good news? Over half (55%) of German women believe in redefining masculinity, advocating for men to embrace their authentic selves. As a result, 72% of women affirm that there’s no single “right” way to be a man.

The Stability Factor: Prioritizing Security in Dating

With global challenges like job security and climate concerns, singles are increasingly factoring stability into their relationships. A substantial 95% of respondents said these issues impact their approach to dating. Stability is especially important for 59% of women, who prioritize partners that are emotionally consistent and reliable. This has led to early conversations on practical matters, such as living arrangements and career goals, becoming more common.

Friendship Meets Romance: Guys Who ‘Get It’

The best friend dynamic in dating is more prominent than ever. German women (46%) are now more open about discussing their dating lives with male friends, seeking advice and relying on these friendships for insights into dating behaviors. This trend underlines a shift towards a collaborative and supportive dating environment.

Looking Ahead: Authenticity and Shared Values

Selby Drummond, Bumble’s Chief Marketing Officer, notes: “We see a powerful movement towards openness and honesty in dating. Singles are more discerning about what they want and are prepared to take the time to find someone who truly aligns with their values.”

Bumble’s 2025 trends underline a collective desire for meaningful connections marked by emotional honesty, stability, and shared interests. As singles move forward, these insights pave the way for dating experiences rooted in authenticity and mutual understanding.

Survey conducted by Bumble between September 19 and 23, 2024, with a sample size of 41,294 Bumble members globally.
