Thursday, Netflix released the teaser trailer for Blonde starring Ana de Armas as Marilyn Monroe. There is no shortage of experience, as de Armas starred in Knives Out and No Time To Die with The Gray Man and Blonde being her marks on 2022.

Blonde is based on the 1999 novel of the same name by Joyce Carol Oates. The book is said to be a fictionalized account of Monroe’s life. The film is set to follow Monroe from her life as Norma Jeane to her rise to stardom and is directed by Andrew Dominik.

“Andrew’s ambitions were very clear from the start — to present a version of Marilyn Monroe’s life through her lens,” said de Armas to Netflix Queue describing the film as the most daring and feminist take on Monroe the actress had ever seen. “The first question was always, ‘What was Norma Jeane feeling here?’ We wanted to tell the human side of her story. Fame is what made Marilyn the most visible person in the world, but it also made Norma the most invisible.”

Dominik is known for directing The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford starring Brad Pitt, as well as documentaries such as This Much I Know To Be True

“The film is sincere. It’s made with love. It’s made with good intentions. But it’s full of rage at the same time,” said Dominik discussing the film’s NC-17 rating. “I seem to get myself in these situations where people regard me as provocative, but it’s never what I’m trying to do. I’m just trying to say it as clearly as I can. My ambition is to make you fall in love with Marilyn.”

Blonde will release worldwide on Netflix on September 23, 2022.
