The Biggest Netflix Movies Dropping In 2021
We can’t wait to add these to our watchlist.
We’re all looking forward to 2021 (simply because it will signal an end to 2020).
Online streaming has been a boredom-buster for so many of us this year, and with so many new releases to look forward to, we’ve compiled a list of the most anticipated movies coming to Netflix in 2021. You’re welcome.
We Can Be Heroes
Good for: a chill night in with the fam.
This family-friendly fantasy from Robert Rodriguez will be sure to enthral even the pickiest of viewers.
When aliens kidnap the world’s superheroes, their children must team up to save their parents- and the planet. The cast features Priyanka Chopra, Christian Slater, and Boyd Holbrook.
Catch it on Netflix January 1st 2021.
Blonde
Good for: a (possibly virtual) sleepover with the girls.
This fictionalized biographical drama is based on the bestselling novel Blonde from Joyce Carol Oates, a five-time Pulitzer Prize finalist. Set in the 1950s and 60s, viewers will see a much more private side of cultural icon Marilyn Monroe. Starring Ana de Armas as a picture-perfect Norma Jean (Marilyn) and directed by Andrew Dominik, we’re particularly excited for this biopic to drop.
Unfortunately, Netflix haven’t set an official release date for Blonde, but keep an eye out for it in 2021.
Bruised
Good for: thrill-seekers.
Halle Berry makes her directorial debut with Bruised. Oscar winner Berry plays Jackie Justice, a dishonored MMA fighter who tries to restore her reputation as a fighter- and as a mother. Reportedly sold to Netflix for an 8-figure sum, Bruised is set to be an unmissable event.
Bruised premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2020. The 2021 release date hasn’t been set for Netflix yet, but watch this space.
Don’t Look Up
Good for: star-studded entertainment.
From the writer of Step Brothers and Anchorman, this political-satire film follows two subordinate astronomers who discover an asteroid on course to destroy Earth, and must partake in press tour to warn mankind. If the plot doesn’t tempt you, maybe the cast will: Leonardo DiCaprio, Meryl Streep, Timothée Chamalet, Jonah Hill, Matthew Perry, and Ariana Grande will star in the flick.
Don’t Look Up was originally supposed to hit Netflix in 2020- however, the pandemic has pushed it back to a yet unknown date in 2021.
Diana: A New Musical
Good for: anyone who binge-watched season 4 of The Crown.
Broadway musical Diana was supposed to hit the stage earlier this year, but production ceased due to the pandemic. It will now open in May 2021- but in a Broadway first, viewers will be able to catch it on Netflix before then.
The musical stars Jeanna de Waal as the beloved Princess, Judy Kaye as Queen Elizabeth II, and Roe Hartrampf as Prince Charles.
Diana: A New Musical will drop on Netflix before May 2021.
