Badmómzjay: From Rap to Reality — How Her Cosmetics Line is Empowering a New Generation of Confidence and Self-Expression

From music to beauty mastery.

POSTED BY JENNY HALONEN
As a groundbreaking artist and rapper, Jordan Napieray a.k.a Badmómzjay has spent her career breaking barriers and challenging the norms of the music industry. Known for her bold lyrics, unapologetic confidence, and fierce individuality, she’s made a name for herself as a true force of creativity and empowerment. Now, she’s bringing that same energy to the beauty world with the launch of BAD COSMETICS—a brand designed for those who refuse to fit into any box. In this interview, we dive into the inspiration behind her cosmetics line, how it reflects her journey as an artist, and her mission to inspire confidence and self-expression in everyone who uses her products.

What inspired you to launch your own cosmetics line, and how does it reflect your personal journey as an artist and a woman in the music industry?

Creating BAD COSMETICS is a way for me to merge my passion for self-expression with beauty. My journey in music has always been about challenging norms, breaking barriers, and being unapologetically me. BAD COSMETICS reflects that same vibe—it's for everyone who’s ready to stand out, own their identity, and feel powerful in their skin.

Your brand’s name plays on the idea of ‘BAD’—what does being ‘BAD’ mean to you, and how does that concept shape both your music and your cosmetics line?

Being “BAD” is all about embracing yourself without fear. It’s rejecting anyone else’s definitions of who you should be. In my music, I push for people to own their power and be fearless. BAD COSMETICS carries that energy—its beauty that celebrates confidence, authenticity, and a bit of edge.

How does your approach to beauty and cosmetics tie into the messages of empowerment, self-expression, and confidence that you champion in your music?

Music and beauty are two of the most powerful forms of self-expression. With my beauty line, I wanted to create products that allow people to show who they are without words. Whether it’s a bold mascara or a unique lipstick, my products are there to make you feel unstoppable, just like I hope my music does.

How do you ensure that your products meet the high standards you’ve set, both in terms of quality and inclusivity?

Quality and inclusivity are non-negotiable. We work closely with expert formulators to ensure that every product is high-performance and meets diverse needs. I want it to be accessible to everyone, so we’re dedicated to creating shades and products that make everyone feel seen and valued.

What makes your mascara and beauty products unique compared to other brands in the market?

It isn’t just another beauty brand. Each product is crafted to give a bold, unique look that stands out. Our new mascara, for example, was designed to give intense volume and definition in just a few strokes. It’s long-lasting and impactful, just like the looks my fans create.

What role do you believe the beauty industry plays in helping people feel empowered, and how do you see your brand contributing to that?

Beauty is about feeling like the best version of yourself. BAD COSMETICS exists to give people the tools to create their own definitions of beauty. I want my brand to be a platform for empowerment, to remind people that beauty is diverse, fierce, and personal.

What kind of message do you want your followers and customers to take away when they use your cosmetics line?

I want everyone using BAD COSMETICS to feel a sense of freedom and confidence. I hope it reminds them that beauty isn’t about fitting into any box. It’s about highlighting your unique self and being proud of it.

What have been the biggest challenges in balancing your music career with starting and growing a beauty brand?

Balancing music and beauty is definitely intense, but I love the challenge. Both are a huge part of my life and allow me to connect with people in different ways. Time management has been key, and having a great team makes all the difference.

Looking ahead, what are your long-term goals for your cosmetics brand? Do you see it expanding into other beauty or lifestyle products in the future?

The vision for BAD COSMETICS is to build a brand that continues to push boundaries. I’d love to explore new beauty products that align with my vision. We’re just getting started, and there’s so much more we can do.

And last, how do you want to continue pushing the boundaries in both your music and beauty line in the years to come?

In both music and beauty, I want to keep breaking stereotypes and staying true to my beliefs. BAD COSMETICS will keep evolving, just like my music. My goal is to inspire people to live boldly and freely, in every area of their lives.
