Baby Phat Launches ‘Courtside Capsule’ Collection

A Relief Initiative to Aid the Fight Against Coronavirus.

POSTED BY MEGHNA AMIN

The streetwear brand Baby Phat has announced an initiative to aid those in need during the pandemic. Through food distribution, the company will benefit thousands of families that have been unable to provide meals due to the global health crisis.

Kimora Lee Simmons, founder of Baby Phat, alongside her daughters, has donated 150,000 meals and will donate an additional 160,000 next week, through the Freedom Shield Foundation.

As well as this, Baby Phat has partnered with the foundation to support non-profit organizations, aiding food distribution within local communities. This has been launched as a result of school closures, which has meant many children who relied on meal programs are now hungry as families who have been affected by the virus are struggling to provide.

The ‘Courtside Capsule’ collection, in partnership with Foot Locker, allows customers to help the initiative as each purpose includes a donation to the Freedom Shield Foundation.

In a press release, Kimora stated: ‘This is a real girl power story. Ming Lee and Aoki Lee inspire me constantly because they’re so connected to the way girls and women are dressing today; and cute dresses with cool kicks reign supreme. Baby Phat has always been designed by and for women, and we’ve always bridged ‘feminine’ and ‘sporty’. That’s what makes Foot Locker such a perfect partner, they have their finger on the pulse of how women dress today because they’ve always cared about women! They understand that this is about lifestyle.’

You can shop for the limited-edition pieces on the footlocker website.
