I’m on My Casual Heel Wearing Journey

Was anyone else obsessed with those Disney Princess heels as a kid? I know I was – and that has manifested into a love of heels as an adult. I always romtacized being a casual heel wearer, there’s something so chic about wearing heels for casual things like going to the grocery store. But now that I’m in the prime age to do that, I’ve lost the plot. I can’t be bothered to match my heels to my outfit, and I find myself reaching for the same pair of sneakers time and time again. So now, I’ve decided to go back to my princess shoe roots and become a casual heel wearer.

I’ve been doing this by starting out small. I don’t even own a pair of flats, but the perfect place to wean off of a sneaker addiction is ballet flats. They’re nicer than sneakers, but still more casual than heels – the perfect baby step. Since I don’t own ballet flats, my first step was kitten heels. They’re chis, they’re casual, and they’re perfect for day-to-day activities. A kitten heel with a block heel is my favorite because I don’t feel like I’m balancing on a toothpick while I’m holding three bags of groceries. 

Once you’re past the kitten heel phase, level up to higher heels. But never sacrifice comfort for the sake of the look. One thing about me, I refuse to buy a pair of heels unless I feel like I’m able to chase after the bus in them. I love throwing on a pair of heeled boots under my jeans while I’m grabbing a coffee. There's something about the click-clack of my heels that makes me feel powerful and ready to take on the day.
