Ariana Grande Donates $250,000 To Pro-Choice Organisation

Ariana Grande flexes her stance on women’s rights and joins a huge group of celebrities voicing support for the Pro-Choice movement – this includes Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Lizzo, and Miley Cyrus to name just a few.

During the Atlanta portion of her Sweetener tour last week, Grande donated all proceeds which came to a sum of $250,000 to Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood is a US-based organization fighting for reproductive healthcare for women and other people with uteruses. This involves their rights to choose what they do with their own bodies and how they wish to live their lives.

This comes at a crucial time in the US as more states are changing their stances on reproductive rights and the banning of abortions. 

Dr. Leana Wen, Planned Parenthood Action Fund President told People Magazine:

“Ariana Grande’s generous donation comes at a critical time — in Georgia and across the country, anti-women’s health politicians are trying to ban all safe, legal abortion, this is not what the American people want, nor is it something they’ll stand for - Thanks to inspiring support like hers, Planned Parenthood can continue to fight back – in the courts, in Congress, in state houses, and in the streets – against these dangerous attacks on people’s health and lives… We are so grateful to Ariana for her longstanding commitment to supporting women’s rights and standing with Planned Parenthood to defend access to reproductive health care. We won’t stop fighting – no matter what.”

Grande’s donation also was mere days after anti-Pride demonstrators stood outside of her concert in Atlanta attempting to anger fans with signs boasting the rainbow flag with the word ‘PRIDE’ crossed out.

Grande’s response to this tweet was: 

“man... saddened but not surprised by this one bit. I’m so sorry any of my fans had to encounter this. we will do our best to ensure this doesn’t happen again. proud of u all for not fighting/engaging violently. never worth it. wishing him peace & a healed heart cause girl yikes”

Planned Parenthood has been gaining support by Pro-Choice celebrities and recently a Miley Cyrus X Marc Jacobs collaborative ‘Charity Hoodie’ was released. 100% of the profits are being donated to Planned Parenthood.
