Zendaya's 'The Odyssey' Looks Modernize Ancient Fashion

Suddenly I want to dress like an Ancient Greek.

After seeing Zendaya’s red carpet looks for Christopher Nolan’s latest release, The Odyssey, I doubt I’m alone in my current hyperfixation on Ancient Greek clothing. Don’t worry, I’m not proposing we all start wearing togas (I haven’t completely lost my mind), but I do think there are elements of fashion from this ancient civilization we can bring into 2026.

Zendaya is well known for being consistently on-theme with her red carpet looks, with The Odyssey being no different. People are going crazy online over her goddess-inspired looks as she pulls out banger after banger. Some are even being described as her best yet!

I love the modern spin Zendaya’s looks have on ancient fashion. Law Roach really does outdo himself every time with the styling. She looks like a modern-day Athena (her character in the movie); I’m dreading the end of this press tour as she’s never looked better. I’ll definitely be taking inspiration and wearing light, floaty pieces in soft, romantic colors. So dreamy!

Flip flops and sandals are already having their moment this summer; they’re practically inescapable on social media. This aligns perfectly with the Ancient Greeks, as intricate, strappy sandals were popular at the time and in mythology. I’m also a big fan of the flowing, billowing silhouettes. Linen shirts, trousers, blouses, skirts—everything!

Despite fashion being in its maximalist era, I do think there’s still room for the minimal color palette associated with this period of history. White, ivory, and cream with pops of metallic gold or silver feels so elegant and godly. Embrace your inner goddess, ladies!
