Y/Project Collaborates with Fila for S/S 22

It’s time to get sporty.

POSTED BY ISOBEL COUGHLAN

Like many collections from the past year, Y/Project taps into athleisure and comfort. The fashion industry has embraced COVID and the desire for comfortable everyday staples for a while now, but Y/Project give a deconstructed take for SS22.

The collection’s lineup was presented through a short film that showcases models following a Y shaped path. The feature was directed by Gregoire Dyer and is reminiscent of his take for their Fall/Winter show previously displayed this year. The stage this season is light and brighter, with nods to sports courts and going outside – a perfect nod to COVID restrictions easing.

A key theme for this season's clothes is deconstruction and movement. Many pieces feature cut outs and fluidity on the body, framing areas not often focused on. Cable knits are braided and twisted to form an unusual knit silhouette, one that starts off traditional end ends in the unexpected. Creative Director Glenn Martens plays with dissection and cutting in unique places, transforming what you expect from clothes. Transparent and sheer materials are also used, again subverting what many consider normal.
