Will The Return Of Stranger Things Revive 80’s Fashion Trends?

Everyone is buzzing for the return of the hit Netflix Sci-Fi TV show Stranger Things. Season 5 was announced all the way back in 2022 with a release date set for some time in 2025. Because of this, anticipation has been steadily increasing, but with no sign of anything happening still. Now that 2025 is finally here, the tension is building once again.

All everyone wants to know is when the final season of the hit show will be released. All we also want to know is when it’s released, will we see a revival of the 80’s fashion trends we saw after the release of previous seasons? It’s certainly a head-scratcher as of right now.

The Influence of Stranger Things on Fashion

When Stranger Things was first released, the initial hype around it didn’t stop at just the characters or plot. Due to it being set in the 80s, the culture was a massive part of the show, and the fashion/style had an important place within the culture.

As a result, throughout the release of the first couple of seasons, there was a surge in 80’s fashion trends. With the help of social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, trends started to emerge swiftly in the theme of 80’s style. From oversized graphic tees to high-waisted everything, bright, vibrant colors, to geometric prints, everything screamed 80’s. People even made TikTok videos showing outfits inspired by the Stranger Things characters, or looks they’d wear if they were a character on the show themselves.

Will 80’s Fashion Make a Comeback in 2025?

Now we’re left wondering, what with the fifth and final season said to be on our screens at any time this year, whether or not these sorts of fashion trends will be revived.

Will denim jackets, plaid shirts, and a classic pair of shades come crawling back onto our feeds and into our wardrobes? Or will we escape a resurgence of the 80s fashion trends due to sheer exhaustion and willingness to move into other things?

Only time will tell, but if the 80’s fashion wave does come back stronger than ever, remember—you heard it here first! In the meantime, get ready for the upside-down madness of the Stranger Things finale whenever it finally lands on our screens.
