Will Boris Johnson Resign?
Well, one thing’s for certain, he definitely should.
The Prime Minister is still dodging questions about his involvement in the infamous lockdown parties that took place during 2020; when COVID restrictions were at an all-time high in the UK. As it stands, he is accused of attending three parties, one of which, hosted at his own home, 10 Downing Street.
At the time of the parties, recreational establishments were all closed, people were not allowed to meet others outside of their household, and relatives were left unable to visit their loves ones in hospitals and care homes.
Since Downing Street’s misconduct has come to light, the public have been left outraged, many calling for Johnson to resign. A subsequent inquiry into the parties was launched this year by Scotland Yard, which is still ongoing. As the Prime Minister, Johnson is not above the law, he could still be penalized for his blatant disregard of the restrictions he put in place.
When asked by the BBC if he would resign under the circumstances that he was found criminally responsible, the prime minister gave a predictably vague answer. Johnson stressed that he could not possibly comment on a process that was still underway, an answer that left many dissatisfied.
As the PM continues to hide behind the façade of due process, it is not just the public growing tired of his blatant ambiguity. Members of the opposition parties and Johnson’s own urged the prime minister to resign.
