The shift from coquette styling trending in 2022 to how I’m wearing it now reminds me that trends come and go, but it's up to you to personalize them and make them your own.

Back in 2022, coquette was defined by pure chaos—the "more bows, more ribbons, tie a pink satin bow on literally everything" phase. It was loud and ridiculously fun. Whether you were clipping six bows into your hair, styling a sheer lace corset for a coffee run, or adding ribbons to your favourite tote bag, it was all about unapologetic, hyper-feminine joy.

Fast-forward to this season, and what I love most about coquette is how it has expanded. It’s no longer just one set aesthetic; it’s unlocked a whole spectrum of ways to wear it. The head-to-toe, doll-house hyper-femininity is still iconic and going strong, but there’s also a new wave of contrast-heavy, grounded styling that makes the look work seamlessly when the temperature drops.

For my personal wardrobe this fall, it’s all about playing with texture and layering up without losing that signature romantic softness. I’m still keeping my go-to pastel pinks, baby blues, and soft whites front and center. My current obsession is taking a super cozy, heavy cable-knit sweater and softening it by threading a silk satin ribbon right through the top buttonhole or eyelets (if it doesn't already come with ribbons).

To keep my favorite lace-trimmed minis and ruffle skirts in high rotation, I’ve been styling them with delicate tights and dainty knee-high socks. A tiny pastel bow clip tucked into the hair keeps that hyper femininity intact, while ballet shoes, lug-sole loafers, or boots keep the whole look feeling balanced for fall weather.
