Vetements FW22 Collection Inspired By Social Media And Bitcoin Millionaires
Masked models present the new Fall/Winter 2022 collection.
Guram Gvasalia has returned with the new Fall/Winter 2022 collection for Vetements. Featured on masked models, the collection draws inspiration from this generation’s social and economic millionaires who have obtained their fame and wealth through digital realm presence. Gvasalia commented, “The early 20th century countries focused on industry tycoons who made money with oil, real estate, chocolate bars. This collection is pushing to redefine the couture and the savoir-faire for the new era.”
By experimenting with digital 3D pattern modification, the fashion label was able to create couture silhouettes with straight-cut jackets. Utilizing jersey, typically used for t-shirts and hoodies, allowed the Vetements team to construct tailored looks that offer style and comfortability. Noting the appeal for versatile clothing, the collection includes transformable pieces, like pants that can be different lengths for separate occasions and padding that can be removed from outerwear garments.
The FW22 lookbook features oversized hoodies, long puffer coats, and velour evening gowns. Boxy silhouettes and wide-legged trousers create a contemporary look that blends luxury fashion and comfortable wear. Photographed on a set of printed fake one million dollar bills, Gvasalia hopes to highlight the changing notion of wealth and how it is defined by this generation.
