Versace And Fendi Launch The Collaboration Of A Generation
Donatella and Kim Jones launch surprise collaboration with 'Fendace' campaign photos.
Name a more iconic and influential duo than Donatella Versace and Kim Jones. I’ll wait... Last year the two biggest names in fashion, Versace and Fendi announced the collaboration of a generation under the banner Fendace.
First announced in September 2021 on the Milan Fashion week runway, the surprise collection is set to drop through a set of worldwide pop-ups and events on 12 May in Paris, New York, Tokyo, and London and elsewhere. The collection, described by Donatella herself as “unexpected and unique” features both brands’ iconic, flamboyant prints as well as Versace’s in your face gold glamour and Fendi’s signature double Fs.
The co-branded collection, or “swap” as it is called by both houses, retains both brands’ classic designs across a range of wearable items from oversized hoodies, baggy shorts and T-shirts to knee high boots and figure-hugging dresses. Don’t be surprised if these become the looks of the season.
This fashion world-changing collaboration boasts an extravagant campaign to go with the launch, featuring supermodels Naomi Campbell, Adut Akech, Imaan Hammam and Anja Rubik. Videos capturing “the sense of friendship and energy” between Donatella and Kim follow the models entering an achingly exclusive-looking nightclub named Fendace, after the collection.
The decade-defining “swap” is said to have originated out of friendship and “beauty of togetherness after time apart”. The co-branded items will be available for sale from both fashion houses, while select ‘Versace by Fendi’ items will be sold by Fendi and ‘Fendi by Versace’ will be sold by Versace.
