Dungarees: A Timeless Article of Clothing

A look into the timelessness of dungarees

POSTED BY ELSIE FAULKNER

Dungarees. One word, so many connotations. This article of clothing is so incredibly simple, and yet owning a pair can absolutely elevate your personal style.

Examples of where they've been iconic...

From helping to shape the beautiful wardrobe of characters like Donna from Mamma Mia (both young and old versions from both Mamma Mia movies) to being the staple for celebrities like Gigi Hadid, (who created a pair with Tommy Hilfiger last year in celebration of her love for them) dungarees are everywhere and it seems like they always have been and always will be.

Why are dungarees everywhere even to this day?

The reason? Well, we think that dungarees are just one of the examples of a piece of clothing that is completely timeless. They are simple and are only short or long in terms of the length. But even so, you can actually shop for a wide variety of these babies.

Styles of dungaree

From the original, classic, tapered style, to work wear ones, wide-legged ones, or 80s/90s style ones...the list goes on. And of course, available in a variety of colours and even various patterns and prints, this item of clothing is the kind of thing that can look casual, fancy, or anything in between. What's more, dungarees can be super practical too. Going back to the workwear style of dungaree, you can wear them whilst doing any number of jobs (they've been popularised as being painting attire, for example).

They’re good to wear regardless of the weather too. You could wear a short pair in the Spring/Summer, or long ones in the Fall/Winter.

Dungarees as timeless

Essentially, these babies are timeless, classic, stylish, and even practical too! What more could you possibly want from an article of clothing? It’s rare to have something that covers all of these factors, and ticks all the boxes. So, please, do yourself and us a favor, and keep the pair of these you were about to throw out, or pick up a pair of these before it’s too late! Trust us, they’re both the past, present, and future.
