TikTok: Trending Haircare Must Haves

Salon hair at home.

POSTED BY ROCHELLE WILLIAMS

When it comes to beauty and haircare, gone are the days of trying multiple products before you land the perfect one. TikTok and its short video content helps us gain product information and reviews in no time at all and this is exactly what happened with some haircare products causing them to go viral. But "what are these products?" you might ask.

Well, lucky for you, I have the haircare intel.

L'Oréal Elvive Hydra Hyaluronic Acid Shampoo

Recommended for dry, damaged hair, this shampoo has been trending on TikTok for 2 years. The reason this product is so popular may have to do with the naturally occurring 'hyaluronic acid'. Just like skin care, hyaluronic acid is used to add extra moisture to your hair. This reduces hair dryness, improves hair elasticity and increases scalp health. Along with all these hair health benefits, this product will leave your hair smooth and shiny with an addictive scent at a low cost.

Gisou - Honey Infused Hair Oil

Although trending for a while, Gisou oil is reviewed highly on Tiktok and other websites, receiving the 'Allure Best of Beauty 2023 award'  for best finishing oil. The brand started its story as family-run beekeepers and then with a lot of experimentation, it produced the now trending oil that we see today. The product describes itself as a hair repair system that uses honey to maintain your hair's natural moisture level. Reviews say that this product truly is one of the best products around and has become a staple part of many hair care routines.

Garnier Hair Remedy Mask

TikTok has spoken and they've said that this Garnier hair remedy mask is the go-to mask for soft and shiny hair, and whilst hair masks are great, it's important to remember that once a week is all that is necessary to maintain good results.

Ouai Hair Gloss

Ouai hair gloss is known for giving a 'liquid hair' look due to its perfectly selected ingredients. The product contains hyaluronic acid mixed with rice water which hydrates and nourishes each strand. Sugar beets and panthenol are also added which tames frizz giving the appearance of healthy hair, even when damaged. It's no wonder this hair gloss is trending on TikTok but is also popular with all ages.

L'Oréal Elvive Glycolic Gloss - Lamination Treatment

This lamination treatment is step 3 of a 4 part haircare routine formulated by L'Oréal. The whole haircare system is trending on TikTok, however, during my haircare research many TikTok users expressed that this key step was the most beneficial to their hair routine. Thankfully it can be bought as a stand-alone product, meaning you do not have to buy all 4 steps to use it. This product is not a conditioner, it's supposed to come after conditioning, but it does offer similar benefits such as silky smooth hair with a high shine.

The Wet Brush - Go Green Detangler

Whilst looking for the top trending hair care products for you, I came across a brush that I felt deserved a mention. The wet brush is a biodegradable hair brush made from plant starch. When recycled the product will break down within 5 years leaving little imprint on the planet. This environmentally friendly product was also produced to be kind to your hair and scalp. Brushing hair whilst wet with the wrong brush can be damaging, as hair is at its most vulnerable and more prone to snapping. This brush is trending because it glides through your hair with ease with little to no tugs or hair breakage. The bristles of this brush are soft and flexible making it kind and gentle to the scalp. All these positives in one brush means it's an all-around must-have.

TikTok can create a frenzy over mediocre products and it's important to research and find what works for you, but sometimes, as we've seen here, there are diamonds amongst the rubble.
