The $825 calendar has Chanel fans frustrated.

Chanel has sparked a whole lot of controversy this holiday season. In an attempt to partake in the festivities, Chanel released an $825 advent calendar that had customers thinking the expensive countdown was one huge joke.

It all started when TikTok influencer Elise Harmon revealed the contents of the calendar in a series of viral unboxing TikToks. Starting on day 9, despite the calendar starting on day 5 (for Chanel’s signature perfume, of course), Harmon excitingly starts to open the box that’s housed in a luxurious replica of a Chanel No.5 perfume bottle only to find … stickers.

"This is a joke! Stickers?" Harmon said in her now-viral TikTok.

Unveiling more and more inexpensive trinkets such as a dust bag, a magnet, a flimsy bracelet, a flipbook and a money clip, Harmon expresses her frustration with her purchase, laughing at the absurdity of its contents.

Harmon claims in a follow-up video that Chanel has blocked her from their TikTok page … which has sparked a reply from the fashion house. Bruno Pavlovsky, Chanel’s president of fashion, explains that Chanel’s TikTok account isn’t active; therefore, Harmon received the same message everyone else would receive trying to reach their page.

Pavlovsky defends the contents of Chanel’s advent calendar but acknowledges that fans are entitled to their opinion.

"We are committed to sharing our creations with our followers on all social networks we are active on,” Pavlovsky said. “Our pages are open to everyone, and our followers are free to express their feelings and opinions, whether they are enthusiastic or critical."
