Shanel Campbell didn’t come to play.

Designer Shanel Campbell presented her 2022 summer collection at the MADE fashion show in what might as well have been her induction into the fashion hall of fame. After being on hiatus due to the pandemic, designer Shanel Campbell has brought her brand back to the forefront in a big way, making a splashy return at MADE’s two day fashion show. Established in 2018, Bed on Water, has been a source of accessories, apparel, art objects, and other art forms, as an interdisciplinary art house, based in New York City. The designer behind the fierce label, Shanel Campbell, has recently outdone herself with her latest collection.

Born out of her break from designing, Campbell delved deep to create an impactful and powerfully imaginative collection of femmewear, embracing sensational patterns in bright, neon colors. The summer 2022 line offers onlookers a vision of ultra-femine looks by showing off women in both mini skirts and long, sweeping skirts alike. Models made their way down the runway wrapped in velvet, splashed in color, and strapped into their shoes, beautifully packaged as the sharp dressed woman that Bed on Water was made for. Each outfit in the collection holds a rich and dramatic look for the unapologetic woman.

MADE’s two day cultural fashion show was staged at Brooklyn Bridge Park and hosted by Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborn, the designers of Public School. Campbell presented her work alongside Whensmokeclears and K.NGSLEY, as part of the celebration’s promise to highlight up-and-coming New York designers. In addition to the display of impressive designs were the musical guests. Nas performed on the first day, with Parris Goebel performing on the day of Bed on Water, K.NGSLEY, and Whensmokeclears, enhancing the boldness of the show and the designs therein.
