The Electric State: Millie Bobby Brown In Retro-Futuristic Sci-Fi
A star-studded retro-epic.
From the directors of Avengers: Endgame comes The Electric State, a visually striking sci-fi odyssey set in an alternate version of the 1990s, where a failed robot uprising has reshaped society.
A Journey Through a Dystopian West
Millie Bobby Brown leads as Michelle, a resourceful orphan navigating a world where once-peaceful sentient robots—designed like animated mascots—are now exiled after a rebellion gone wrong. One night, Michelle’s world is turned upside down when Cosmo, a peculiar yet endearing robot, arrives with a shocking revelation: he’s being controlled by her younger brother, Christopher, whom she believed was dead.
Determined to find him, Michelle embarks on a treacherous journey across the American West. Along the way, she reluctantly teams up with Keats (Chris Pratt), a rugged smuggler, and his wisecracking robot companion, Herman (voiced by Anthony Mackie). Their mission leads them to the Exclusion Zone, a mysterious wasteland where exiled robots exist beyond human control.
A Star-Studded Sci-Fi Epic
As Michelle and Keats uncover the truth about Christopher’s disappearance, they encounter an eccentric cast of characters, including Ke Huy Quan, Jason Alexander, Giancarlo Esposito, Stanley Tucci, and Woody Norman. The film also features voice performances by Mackie, Woody Harrelson, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, and Alan Tudyk as various robots.
From Page to Screen
Based on the acclaimed graphic novel by Simon Stålenhag, The Electric State is penned by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, the duo behind Infinity War and Endgame. With Anthony and Joe Russo at the helm, this film promises an emotional, action-packed adventure with breathtaking visuals and a nostalgic yet eerie take on the ‘90s.
Expect a thrilling blend of sci-fi, adventure, and mystery with The Electric State on Netflix.
