A Look Inside the Fashion of the Reputation Era
Whilst waiting for the re-release of Reputation, let’s look at the style of this era.
As the clock ticks on, fans are getting more and more confused yet excited about the prospect of Taylor Swift’s Reputation album being re-released soon. From swifties theorizing and "clowning" that its release date would be soon after that of The Tortured Poets Department (Swift’s eleventh studio album) to many being almost certain that the re-release announcement would come at the end of Swift's infamous Era’s tour in Vancouver, Canada, many are now bewildered. Fans are left wondering when this highly anticipated announcement will finally come, and if their theories will ever prove true?
Revisiting the Debut Album
While we also await the announcement and re-release of Swift’s debut album, Taylor Swift, many believe Reputation is next in line. With that in mind, it’s time to focus on the iconic era that Reputation represents. Its bold aesthetic and unforgettable fashion moments make it an exciting focal point as we continue to wait for Reputation (Taylor’s Version) to slither into the spotlight.
The Aesthetic of Reputation: Bold and Vengeful
The Reputation album exudes an edgy, fierce, bold, and confident vibe, dripping with rightful revenge. Fans are curious about how the album cover for the re-released version will compare to the original. The original cover was simple yet layered with dark and wicked undertones, perfectly capturing the mood Swift intended to convey.
From the slicked-back hair to the red lips, from chokers to off-the-shoulder sweaters adorned with intricate, barely visible details, Swift's style during this era kept fans intrigued. Many wonder whether her iconic looks will be amplified or reimagined for the re-release.
Music Video Fashion Highlights
Of course, we can’t forget her music video looks from this era. Her infamous ‘Rep’ bodysuit worn in the Look What You Made Me Do video with its black, velvet fabric and silver, gothic lettering. (Although, any look from this video was simply jaw-dropping.) There was also the beautiful blue tassel dress from the Delicate music video that brought back some gorgeous vintage, flapper vibes. In End Game, Taylor rocked more black, even wearing black studded-stilettos at one point.
However, she also wore a rainbow-striped dress that juxtaposed with the general vibe of this era. But even so–everything was perfection!
Paying Tribute on the Eras Tour
And what’s more, on her infamous Era’s tour, Swift rocked a number of Reputation-themed bodysuits to pay homage to this dark, moody album. The most popular one was the original gold and black snake bodysuit, but she also shocked fans when first switching it up to a red one. This featured a cobra that looked strikingly similar to the one used in previous performances back in 2018. One could say it was very sssneaky of her!
Although we simply cannot wait any longer for the re-release of this highly-sought-after album, we can at least enjoy looking back on how its fashion in particular has always been something simply gorgeous!
