1. All That Glitters Is Gold

Winners certainly do wear gold. Metallics were undeniably the palette of the evening, with multiple celebrities turning heads in their glittering gowns. Actress Demi Moore dazzled in a custom Giorgio Armani Privé creation as she collected her first acting award for her role in The Substance. The strapless champagne gown featured a curved geometric detail embellished with Swarovski crystals.

Zoe Saldana also collected her first award for her role in Emilia Pérez wearing a deep brown strapless sequin gown with a matching cape, which she draped over her arms. The gown by Saint Laurent’s creative director Anthony Vaccarello was paired with a dazzling Cartier diamond necklace.

2. The Year of Sheer

Sheer fabrics were a standout red carpet trend. Actress Angelina Jolie appeared at the awards ceremony in a beaded Alexander McQueen gown. The floor-length dress featured a few sheer panels and all-over beads and crystals for plenty of drama for her big night. Her daughter Zahara, 19, wore a coordinating gown, hers white with a black tree-like pattern on one side.

Georgina Chapman, accompanying her partner Adrien Brody, also opted for a sheer gown. Her dress, adorned with black floral details and a dramatic train, was designed by her own brand Marchesa

3. A Timeless Touch

Ariana Grande took to the red carpet wearing a 59-year-old vintage Givenchy gown in an ensemble inspired by her Wicked character, Galinda. The dress, made from pale yellow silk, features a hand-beaded bodice which was designed in 1966. Grande accessorised with white opera gloves, pale yellow pointed-toe pumps, a sparkling choker and earrings. She wore her blonde hair in a sleek ponytail with short bangs referencing Givenchy muse, Audrey Hepburn

Actress Anya Taylor-Joy, one of the presenters at the 2025 Golden Globes, stunned in a blush-pink archival slip dress from Christian Dior. The slinky number featured thin spaghetti straps and a draped cowl neck, pooling slightly on the floor around her feet. She paired the design with a coordinating shawl with fringed tassel trims that added a boudoir chic touch to the ensemble. An oversized sparkling necklace from Tiffany & Co was the perfect finishing touch.

4. Cut-Out Couture

Singer Miley Cyrus last walked the Golden Globes carpet in 2009, her 2025 appearance was well worth the wait. She went bold in a black Celine gown, which featured embroidered cutouts around the waist and a daring low-waist open back. The front equally contributed to the ensemble’s risqué factor, including a plunging neckline with spaghetti straps and a butterfly-like cutout around her torso.

Brat summer isn’t quite over for America’s Got Talent judge Heidi Klum, as she opted for a bright green strapless dress with cutouts on the bodice beneath the bustline. The dress featured ornate and delicately styled illusion fabric, and included a long flowing train.

5. Glove at First Sight

Opera gloves are the opulent fashion trend which took over the 2025 Golden Globes. Actresses Kerry Washington and Ali Wong embraced bold fashion choices, donning black opera gloves paired with strikingly colorful dresses from Balenciaga, while Janelle James of Abbott Elementary opted for a timeless all-black ensemble, complementing her look with a strapless gown by Christian Siriano. Cristin Milioti wore a black strapless dress with a sequined, thorn-like neckline, accessorized with opera gloves that extended to her shoulders. Pamela Anderson also chose an all-black look, wearing a classic tank-style black dress paired with matching gloves.
