Summer In The City Lookbook

Get inspired to create your summer wardrobe.

POSTED BY INÊS MOURÃO

Summer Summer oh how we love you. The sun is shining, the cities are emptier; the days are longer and happiness is in the air… and the weather, the weather is just so damn hot! Seriously what does one wear when all you want to do is to sport your best natural, how you came into this world outfit.

But Summer in the city is not a walk in the park, with the tall brick buildings that radiate the heat and sweaty metro trips it can easily turn into a hot mess if one does not know a few tips and tricks on what to wear, to keep cool and stylish while still rocking that city girl style. So what does one wear on those days where even the bare minimum feels like too much. Whether is to go to the office, for some evening drinks or if you chose a city as your holiday destination don’t worry we have got you covered with a round of outfits inspired by our favorite influencers.

Shorts and a Shirt

The perfect laid-back, cool-girl fit to go from coffee with friends to business meetings. All you need is some denim shorts, we recommend Bermuda (ARKET, $59) or biker style, paired with a basic tee (Missguided, $23), a statement oversized shirt (ASOS, $43) some dad’s sneakers (Balenciaga, $995) and the right glasses (Pioneer, $96.27). Another option is a matching cotton shirt and shorts set (ASOS, $36). Easy to create, adapt to your style, and comfortable to wear all day round!

Oversized Shirt

Another zero-effort summer look is the shirt dress (ASOS, $29). Steal your dad's or boyfriend's one for the best-oversized look. Wear it over jeans (ARKET, $79), shorts ( ASOS, $9) or sport it as a mini-dress. Combine with some high sneakers or loafers (ASOS, $36) and accessorize your hair with a hair claw clip (EMI JAY, $20).

All White Look

Let's be honest, a summer tan asks for an all-white ensemble. As dangerous as it is to wear all white, you are sure to gain style points and stay fresh in the heatwave. Pair your best white trousers (&Other Stories, $89)  with a white top (&Other Stories, $25) and style it up with some chunky sandals (ARKET, $199) a silk scarf ( Zara, $45.90) around your head, your favorite bag (Dior, $2,384.97) and aviator sunglasses (Pioneer, $85.91).

Linen Dress

For those days where you can't be bothered to pair a look, linen dresses are the answer. An extremely breathable fabric, these dresses (Bershka, $46) have summer written all over them providing maximum style with minimal effort. Combine it with some flat sandals (Fitflop, $100) and a straw bag ( ASOS, $44) and finish up the look with your favorite sunglasses (Oakley, $130.66). For chilly evenings keep a cardi (ARKET, $99) close.  This look works well with a low bun or braided hairstyle.

Feathers on Feathers

OG influencer Chiara Ferragni is the dancing queen of this summer. Pairing a shirt with feather detailing on the cuffs with denim shorts and feather high-heeled sandals, a fun evening is guaranteed. A daring look sure to turn some heads, try it with a pajama set (ASOS, $48) a feathery suit (Farfetch, $321) or a slip dress (ASOS, $135) and be the life of any party.

Silk Slip Skirt

Maxi or midi (AMY LYNN,  $65.00) with a slit on the side for the drama, this piece can be styled with a basic tank and sack bag (ASOS, $14.50) for an easy-chic appeal or dressed up with a bra top ( Free People, $38.60) and a blazer (COLLUSION, $72.00) for a dinner out. Put your hair in a sleek bun, chunky hoops, and dark glasses (Ted Baker, $110.05) for full main character energy.
