Stella McCartney's Pre-Fall 2024 Collection At COP 28
A chic sustainable future.
At COP 28, the climate change conference, Stella McCartney revealed her Pre-Fall 2024 collection, a fashion manifesto for a sustainable and cruelty-free future. The designer demonstrated how fashion can be part of the solution, not the problem, for the environmental and ethical issues facing the world. She presented her innovations in vegetarian and eco-friendly materials, such as BioPuff, a vegan down alternative made from wetland bulrushes.
BioPuff is a groundbreaking material that is fluffy, warm, and water-resistant, just like real down, but without the cruelty. McCartney used BioPuff to create a puffy version of her famous Falabella bag, which is already made from recycled polyester. She also used BioPuff to create cozy jackets and coats that are perfect for winter.
The collection's theme is birds, because McCartney loves them and wants to protect them from the harm caused by the fashion industry. She used bird motifs in prints, embroidery, and appliques on dresses, tops, and skirts. She also created stunning party looks with pleated and shredded tulle that looks like feathers, but without harming any birds. One of the standout pieces is a yellow skirt made from organza that's cut to look like real feathers.
Stella also mixed masculine and feminine styles in her collection, showing how a check jacket can be paired with a lace-trimmed slip dress for a chic and effortless look. She's a master of blending different influences and creating harmony in her designs.
She's a leader of vegetarian fashion, never using fur, leather, or feathers in her designs since 2001. She's always looking for new ways to create beautiful clothes that are kind to animals and the environment. She uses her platform to educate consumers about fashion's environmental impact, empowering them to make conscious choices. Her Pre-Fall 2024 collection is a vision of a sustainable and cruelty-free future for fashion.
