Skiwear Clashes With Evening Wear At Chanel AW21

Virginie Viard takes inspiration from après ski for the new collection.

POSTED BY ISOBEL COUGHLAN

Some may argue that après ski is the best part of skiing. Whether you agree with this or not, you have to admire Virginie Viard’s take on the slopes for the new AW 21 collection at Chanel.

From XXL puffers and ski pants to classic boucle coats, the collection is ready for the ski season. Chunky cable knits in cardigan and sweater form also feature, ready to keep you warm and chic at the same time. Viard explained to Vogue “(It’s about) the ambiance of ski holidays, which I adore, and a certain idea of cool Parisian chic, from the 1970s to now.”

Though heavy outerwear features through the collection, it’s contrasted by slinky slip dresses and silk camis to hint at the nightlife of the slopes. Cropped tailored jackets and quilted cocktail dresses are seen matched with large moon boots, creating an interesting silhouette that plays with textures. As usual, the classic Chanel logo features on prints and embroideries throughout the looks.

Are you ready for the ski season?
