Chanel Unveils 2020/2021 Métiers D'art Accessories
Inspired by Coco Chanel's interest in renaissance women.
The French fashion house’s SS21 line-up of accessories is set to release next month. To keep us patient, Chanel revealed images of new accessories from its 2020/2021 Métiers d’Art collection.
The styles in this collection are inspired by Coco Chanel’s interest in renaissance women. The refined styles feature renderings of the Chateau de Chenonceau, where the runway show was held last year. The classic silhouette of Chanel’s handbag has dainty pearls sewn in and covered in silver and gold gems. We also see the purple-pink belt bag has been reworked with plush suede materials, rose pattern stitching, and gold-toned hardware. The collection also features a larger drawstring bag which is net embellished with pearls and gold chains.
During the runway show last year, the designer spoke about Chanel’s affinity for the renaissance period. Looking at the portraits of Coco from the 1930s, where she is dressed in dark velvet suits with white ruffs at the neck suggest Chanel appreciated the “magnificent simplicity” of the period.
