Priyanka Chopra Built It, Reliance Just Took It Global

Not a minority stake

POSTED BY ZOE TYLER

Reliance Retail has officially acquired Anomaly Haircare, the clean, vegan haircare line founded by Priyanka Chopra Jonas in 2021. Not a partnership. Not a minority stake. Full ownership of the brand’s trademarks, assets, and digital ecosystem.

And the intention is clear. Scale. Fast.

Reliance is plugging Anomaly into its massive retail machine, both physical stores and its beauty platform Tira, with plans to expand aggressively across India and globally.

This Isn’t About Haircare, It’s About Power Moves

On paper, it’s a beauty acquisition. In reality, it’s positioning.

Anomaly already had the right DNA. Clean formulas, sustainable messaging, accessible pricing. The kind of brand that sits perfectly between mass and premium, which is exactly where growth is happening right now.

Reliance doesn’t just want products. It wants brands it can own, scale, and distribute at a level most companies can’t touch. This deal gives them a globally recognizable name with built-in cultural relevance.

And Chopra isn’t disappearing. She’s staying on as Creative Director, still shaping the vision while the infrastructure around her gets exponentially bigger.

The Real Shift Is Where Beauty Is Headed

Zoom out for a second.

This is part of a bigger pattern. Celebrity brands don’t just exist to sell anymore. They’re becoming acquisition targets. Fully formed identities that can be absorbed into larger systems and scaled worldwide.

Reliance is building a beauty empire piece by piece.
Anomaly just became one of its most strategic entries.

And honestly, it tracks.

Because in this version of the industry,
the real flex isn’t launching a brand.

It’s building one worth buying.
