Opening Ceremony Rings In The Lunar New Year With “Vermillion Red” Capsule Collection
It's the Year of the Tiger!
It’s the Year of the Tiger and Opening Ceremony is celebrating the upcoming Lunar New Year with a new capsule collection. The 2022 celebration features a series of sweatshirts and T-shirts in the "Vermillion Red" colorway.
Each piece includes a miniature sweatshirt that doubles as Opening Ceremony branding on the chest. Every sweatshirt needs its own sweatshirt, right? The 3D logo follows the "Vermillion Red" color scheme — making it a monochromatic look.
And to round out the collection, Opening Ceremony enlisted the help of the incredible Sandy Kim to shoot the campaign. Shot in Los Angeles, the campaign stars Kim, Greta Lee, Jerry Hsu and Eddie Huang.
Talking about the importance of the new capsule, creative directors Carol Lim and Humberto Leon explained that “as Asian-Americans, this collection celebrates an important part of our heritage.”
“This sense of pride also translates into the campaign concept we’ve built around our Lunar New Year collection, through which we aim to celebrate AAPI talent in front of the camera and behind the scenes. Though Lunar New Year is mostly celebrated within the East Asian community, through this capsule we aim to invite our wider Opening Ceremony community to celebrate with us.”
To ring in the Lunar New Year, the OC x LNY collection is now available on Opening Ceremony’s website.
