Olympic Uniforms That Rose To The Occasion
The best of the Olympic uniforms at the 2024 opening ceremony.
A lot of design goes into the Olympics, from the opening ceremony to the carefully curated sportswear. The uniforms worn in the opening ceremony exist to communicate who the athletes are representing, an artistic concept of their country. And of course some countries blew it out of the water, so we want to talk about them.
Team Sri Lanka
Lovi Ceylon paid homage to Sri Lanka's history and stunning cultural fashion. The designs use embroidery and beading to create a uniform that is undeniably stunning.
Team Haiti
Designed by Italian designer Stella Jean, the Haitian uniform uses prints designed by Haitian artist Philippe Dodard to create a look that perfectly blends modern and classic.
Team Taiwan
Justin Chou is back, after being a notable designer in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The cool, sleek suits that make up the uniform are unmistakably Chou. They reflect the far-advanced street style of Taiwan.
Team Czechia
This year the Czech team has gone with a modern art vibe. The item that ties the uniform together is the coat, an item inspired by the “baloňák” coat. It was designed in collaboration between the Czech Olympic Team, ALPINE PRO, and designer Jan Černý.
Team Mongolia
Saving the best till last, Mongolia's uniform has been the talk of the fashion world since it was unveiled. Designed by Mongolian fashion label Michel & Amazonka, the uniforms utilize embroidery to communicate Mongolian heritage.
