Netflix Reportedly Set To Launch Rival Britney Doc

It comes hot on the heels of Hulu’s ‘Framing Britney Spears’.

It’s been just two weeks since Hulu released ‘Framing Britney Spears’, but Netflix is reportedly already working on a similar offering.

'Framing Britney Spears' took a deep dive into the controversy surrounding the star’s conservatorship, mental health and the #freebritney movement. A conservatorship is when a guardian is appointed to manage the life and finances of somebody deemed to fragile to look after themselves. 13 years ago, a judge appointed Britney's father Jamie to be her guardian.

The arrangement was supposed to be temporary, but it has persisted ever since, in spite of Britney attempting to have her father dismissed in court. Fans have since rallied around Britney, with the #freebritney campaign seeking to finally end Jamie Spears' control over his daughter.

Now, Bloomberg is claiming that Netflix is working on a documentary of its’ own, with Emmy-nominee Erin Lee Car reportedly attached to direct. The documentary looks to be very similar to Hulu's, with a focus on Britney's mental health, treatment in the press and conservatorship arrangement.

The reports have yet to be confirmed by Netflix themselves.
