3 Natural Body Scrubs That You Can Make At Home

Get your glow on.

POSTED BY LYDIA MAKIN

When your skin’s feeling rough and dry, nothing can get it glowing again quite like a decent body scrub. The exfoliating ingredients in a body scrub clear away dead skin cells to reveal soft and smooth skin underneath, paving the way for effective moisturization.

Looking after yourself is really important right now, and boosting the overall look and feel of your skin can improve your mood and help beat those self-isolation blues. Natural body scrubs are one of the easiest products to make yourself, so why not whip one up while you’re stuck at home? Here, we share 3 DIY body scrubs that you can make at home with all-natural ingredients.

#1 Brown Sugar and Coconut Oil Scrub

Brown sugar is a gentle exfoliant that leaves skin feeling soft and smooth, while coconut oil is a healing, moisturizing oil known to have antibacterial properties that make it an ideal source of hydration for acne-prone skin. Combine these two ingredients for a deeply nourishing scrub that will leave you glowing without clogging up your pores.

What you’ll need:

- 3 tablespoons of brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons of coconut oil

Directions:

Combine the ingredients in a bowl with a spoon or your fingers. Jump in the shower and gently massage the scrub onto your body in a circular motion. Rinse away with warm water and pat dry with a clean towel.

#2 Coffee Grounds and Coconut Oil Scrub

Coffee grounds are a natural exfoliator that encourages skin rejuvenation and helps keep skin hydrated. When combined with coconut oil, they slough away rough patches and provide nourishment, boosting the overall appearance of your skin and helping to reduce inflammation.

What you’ll need:

- 3 tablespoons of coffee grounds
- 2 tablespoons of coconut oil

Directions:

Heat the coconut oil in a small pot on the stovetop until it melts. Allow it to cool but not solidify. Use a spoon to mix the coffee grounds with the coconut oil in a bowl. Once you’re in the shower, gently massage the scrub onto your body in a circular motion, then rinse away with warm water. Pat dry with a clean towel.

#3 Sea Salt and Olive Oil Scrub

This scrub is a great option for overly dry skin in need of intense hydration. Sea salt is packed with magnesium, an important mineral that helps regulate cellular regeneration and repair, while olive oil provides intense moisturization to help bring dull, lackluster skin back to life.

What you’ll need:

Make sure you use fine sea salt for this scrub, as regular table salt will be too abrasive. If you have sensitive skin, you should substitute sea salt with brown sugar, which is less abrasive.

- 4 tablespoons of fine sea salt
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil

Directions:

Use a spoon to combine the sea salt and olive oil in a bowl. Bring the scrub into the shower and massage it onto your body in a circular motion. Rinse away with warm water and pat dry with a clean towel.
