Morgan Harper-Jones' Debut Album 'Up To The Glass'
A glimpse into Morgan Harper-Jones' album journey.
Rising singer-songwriter Morgan Harper-Jones is making waves with her music featured on Netflix's hit series 'Love At First Sight.' Her debut album, "Up To The Glass," set to release on February 23, explores themes of self-discovery, love, and loss in one's twenties. The lead single, 'Boombox,' offers a compelling introduction, combining pop melodies with vulnerable yet defiant vocals. Creating a unique blend of confessional dream-pop. Morgan's music draws inspiration from a wide range of artists varying from Maggie Rogers and Harry Styles, to Aldous Harding and St. Vincent, and back to Joni Mitchell and Paul Simon.
When Morgan was asked about the song, she said the following: “‘Boombox’ is an ultimatum. I was terrified of giving ultimatums because I thought that if I was honest and told someone what I needed they might say ‘No I can’t give you that’ and there’d be no going back. So I found myself in situationships a lot, trying to prove my worth and patiently waiting for them to notice me and choose me. But eventually you realize that life is too short to wait for someone like that.”
The album is deeply personal, addressing themes such as grief, self-acceptance, and the pursuit of unrequited love. Morgan's intimate songwriting process, mainly developed with Iain Archer, results in a record that resonates with listeners on a personal level. Her music offers a comforting reminder that "you're not alone" and is sure to propel her promising career to new heights. Raised by her grandparents, Morgan's upbringing influenced her mature and emotionally charged music. With her debut album on the horizon, Morgan Harper-Jones is an artist to watch in the world of contemporary pop music.
