Marged Reclaims Her Voice With Explosive New Single “SICK”
South London artist's new single explores wellness & resistance.
South London-based experimental pop artist Marged unveils her latest single “SICK”, out now via APOLLO Distribution. The track marks a striking evolution in her sound—pairing visceral beats and distorted electronics with delicate string flourishes and spoken word poetry. Raw, urgent, and emotionally charged, SICK is a sonic meditation on wellness, resistance, and collective care.
“I wrote SICK while reading Fariha Róisín’s Who Is Wellness For?,” Marged shares. “It made me think about how we define ‘wellness,’ and who gets to decide. This song is a reminder that grief, despair, resistance—those aren’t flaws, they’re forms of aliveness. They’re calls to care for ourselves and each other.”
Redefining Sound, Story, and Self
After re-emerging last May with Bounce Back following a six-year hiatus, Marged is firmly reclaiming her narrative—delivering music deeply rooted in personal truth and political introspection. SICK was co-produced by longtime collaborator Sakima (Troye Sivan, Tate McRae, Little Mix) and channels both vulnerability and defiance in equal measure.
Praised by The Line of Best Fit and Crescendo Magazine, Marged is known for her cathartic vocals and conversational storytelling. Her time performing with Self Esteem on Jools Holland, Radio 1’s Live Lounge, and Glastonbury shaped her understanding of music’s power. She also served as the voice practitioner on Alter, Altar by Jasleen Kaur, the Turner Prize 2025-winning project—a role that further deepened her exploration of voice as a tool for liberation.
With SICK, Marged invites listeners into an immersive emotional space, where defiance and tenderness coexist. It’s not just a song—it’s a call to feel, to question, and to heal together.
