Magnus Carlsson's Style Chronicles
A book by Acne Studios.
Acne Studios and Magnus Carlsson, the creative director of the Swedish label's showrooms and Stockholm HQ's cafeteria and library, have collaborated on a new book called My Friend Magnus.
The book is a tribute to Carlsson's personal style, which has inspired Acne Studios' identity over the years. It features over 200 of his outfits, some of which are Acne Studios' pieces from past and present collections, as well as other brands.
The book is also a resource for fashion lovers, as each outfit is explained and credited with the names of the designers. The book features pieces from Yohji Yamamoto, COMME des GARÇONS, Walter Van Beirendonck, Vivienne Westwood and more.
The book is prefaced by the famous fashion writer Angelo Flaccavento, who examines the cultural and social role of fashion, a theme that Carlsson's outfits illustrate. Carlsson's style is fun, lively and experimental, mixing layers and accessories in unexpected ways, in harmony with Acne Studios' own vision.
Johansson says that the book is a way to share Carlsson's amazing style with more people, who can appreciate his flair and creativity. He says that the book is not meant to be on a shelf; it's meant to inspire and motivate others to express themselves beyond trends, time and gender.
