Here’s Why Machine Gun Kelly Has A Vial Of Megan Fox’s Blood Around His Neck

And why Bernie Sanders is partially to thank.

For those of you missing the eccentric early 2000s displays of affection from Billy Bob Thorton and Angelina Jolie and their infamous blood vial necklaces, you’re in luck. There’s a new sheriff in town, and he goes by the name of Machine Gun Kelly.

You may remember MGK’s Valentine’s Day Instagram post. The caption read "i wear your blood around my neck” and “My Bloody Valentine” was tagged-- a reference to his song of the same name. The carousel featured a photo of what we’d later find out is a necklace with a drop of his girlfriend, Megan Fox’s, blood-- a piece of jewelry the actress gifted to him. Well, this week on Ellen, the musician revealed the story behind his very unique accessory.

MGK explained that when his and Fox’s relationship was still "really new,” Fox was flying to Bulgaria to film a movie. Because he had no passport at the time, he "was kind of freaking out, like, 'You're gonna leave and I can't even come see you.'"  So, Fox came up with an unusual idea to keep them feeling close to each other. MGK said, “Some people give like a handkerchief to their partner or whatever... She gave me her DNA.” Well, it’s certainly a personal gift-- we’ll give her that.

When asked if he ever got his passport, he replied, “You know who helped me get a passport? Bernie Sanders.” He proceeded to thank the senator for his hand in his love story (which, for the record, we still don’t understand.) He pulled out the necklace and revealed that even though he and his love were reunited, he still always keeps it with him. Okay, we admit it– that’s the cutest blood story we’ve heard in a while (and yes–Twilight is included.)
