Kaws and Kim Jones reunite for Dior menswear
Artistic director of Fendi, Kim Jones, collabs with artist Kaws for the first time since 2018.
After a long six years apart, artistic director of Fendi Kim Jones, and American artist and designer Kaws, (A.K.A Brian Donnelly) have finally reunited once more with an exciting new capsule collection of menswear designed especially for Dior. Let’s take a brief look at this collab and its designs...
This project was released into the world on January 2nd of this year. Kaws invited a sense of color, vibrancy, fun, and originality into his designs for the collection. A snake was the main symbol seen slithering onto the iconic Dior logo. It was on items including a pale pink varsity jacket, various bags, tracksuit bottoms, trainers, and satin shirts. Generally, the collection took the archetypal aesthetic of menswear and turned it inside out by promoting a playful and comfortable, colorful sense of style.
Quilted jackets and baseball caps helped add to a sporty yet comfortable vibe, and the embellishments and graphics on the garments added to the sense of fun. Also being known as a graffiti artist and an avid skateboarder, Kaws paired some of the outfits with Dior’s B35 trainers that added pops of neon color to the overall shoot to pay homage to this.
Jones himself has always been known to create stylish and timeless looks, collaborating with innovative and unique individuals who constantly create better and stronger designs, and his reuniting with Kaws for another Dior collection is no exception. Under his creative and keen eye, this collection has resulted in quirky and vibrant looks that are sure to revamp any mediocre wardrobe.
