Katy Perry Is Going To Space?
She's done with Earth, apparently.
Pop royalty and glitter aficionado Katy Perry is blasting off — for real this time. The “E.T.” singer is officially headed to space aboard Blue Origin’s next New Shepard mission, and she’s not going solo. She’ll be joined by the first all-female crew ever to take the trip, proving once and for all that girls really do run the galaxy.
Launching this spring, Perry’s squad includes Lauren Sánchez (aka Jeff Bezos’ better half), Gayle King (Oprah’s ride-or-die), NASA alum Aisha Bowe, producer Kerianne Flynn, and space scientist Amanda Nguyen — which is basically the most chaotic and fabulous brunch guest list ever, except they’re in zero gravity.
Stars, but Make It Literal
Blue Origin says Katy is “honored” to be part of the flight. We say she just wanted to test-drive the real Milky Way after name-dropping galaxies in “Firework” for over a decade.
And while this isn’t a full orbit (no moonwalking just yet), the crew will shoot 62 miles above Earth — high enough to float around, feel their faces go weird, and re-enter the group chat with major bragging rights. Oh, and yes, the spaceship has windows big enough for selfies.
Historic, But Also Kinda Hot?
This marks the first all-female spaceflight crew since 1963. That’s right — six decades of testosterone in orbit and we’re finally sending the girls. About time.
The mission is part science flex, part PR stunt, part feminist fever dream. Katy might be the first pop star to go to space — unless Lady Gaga secretly beat her to it with a weather balloon.
Lift-off is scheduled for April 14, so if you hear a loud boom and see something sparkly streaking across the sky… don’t worry. It’s probably just Perry, ascending. Again.
