Pop icon Janet Jackson has shared a brand new trailer for her upcoming documentary Janet, a new tell-all retrospective on her career in the music industry.

Jackson revealed the teaser via her Twitter account to excited fanfare from fans and celebrities alike.

Produced by Lifetime and A&E, the four-hour documentary will be shown over two nights, covering Jackson’s forty year career in the music industry, coming to terms with the death of her brother, Michael Jackson, as well as finding motherhood later in life. Lifetime have yet to announce a release date.

“This is my story told by me. Not through someone else’s eyes,” Jackson announces in the teaser. Featured guest appearances include fellow pop giants Mariah Carey, Missy Elliott and Paula Abdul.

The documentary will also explore the Super Bowl controversy with Justin Timberlake, an incident that negatively impacted Jackson’s career including the loss of numerous sponsorship deals and having her songs blacklisted across radio stations.

Timberlake’s role in this fiasco returned to the limelight following its coverage in the Framing Britney Spears documentary, and he issued a subsequent apology to Jackson and pledging to “take accountability.” Several commentators have noted the minimal impact it had on his career in comparisons to hers. At one point, Timberlake was dubbed "the Teflon man" for the perceived lack of negative publicity on his end.

Jackson’s new documentary promises to give viewers her side of the story and delve into the highs and lows of her forty year tenure as a pop monarch.
