Grace & The Flat Boys Are Subverting Genre

We sat down with a band who have no desire to fit into a box.

Grace and her boys, Joe, Mark, Mustaphais and Robin are a refreshing voice in music. With their early music having a jazz feel, they have taken that sound and grown around it. Adding elements from a wide range of inspirations including R&B and classic rock. Listening to their latest EP it's impossible to pin down. Amorphous and ever changing music makes the listening experience something exciting.

There is one common theme throughout their music: Danceability. They told us that's their goal, to make music “that people can dance to,” and we'll be the first to say they nailed it.

This vibe is especially prevalent with their latest EP, written with the intention of conveying the live music sound in recorded music; the whole thing feels like being at a gig.

From talking to them it feels like the band's whole ethos is being there for a good time, they described their goal for their future sound as "Party, party, party!"

An emphasis on fun in everything they do both in life and music translates to the best listener experience.

We highly recommend the live experience, despite how well the music speaks for itself. The band understands the energy that comes from live music and their full schedule speaks for itself, they'll be playing a few more gigs this summer, then will be going all out again in autumn. They are beginning to branch out across the world, and we can see global success in their future.
