How to Style an Oversized Blazer for Every Season

An oversized blazer has earned its permanent residency in my wardrobe.

There was once upon a time when I thought that blazers were only for business meetings and corporate outfits. Today, an oversized blazer has earned its permanent residency in my wardrobe. I remember seeing paparazzi shots of Julia Roberts rocking an oversized blazer in the 90s, and thinking: yes, that is so effortlessly chic!

You know the vibe — I’m talking slightly slouchy so that I can throw it on with some Y2K-inspired baggy denim jeans and gold hoops, but structured enough that I can walk into a work meeting looking polished.

What I love most is how it blurs every line: streetwear, office wear, nightwear. I’ve worn an oversized blazer with some flared joggers for lazy Sunday coffee runs, but also over a silky satin dress for classy dinner nights with the girls. And so can you!

Remember, a blazer is a wardrobe staple. You can thrift one and pair it with some shorts and sunglasses to serve that “off-duty model” energy, or invest in a designer cut that will instantly upgrade your wardrobe — and every outfit. The oversized blazer perfectly balances structure and nonchalance — the blazer is on your side!

It’s also timeless: pastel linen blazers in the summer, leather or suede blazers in the autumn, tweed and wool blazers in the winter (true Blair Waldorf style) — there’s a blazer for every season. Somehow, it just has the magic of always working.
