Hailey Bieber Makes A Case for Letting Your Tights Steal The Outfit

Hosiery can contribute more than coverage.

Tights are usually cast in a supporting role. They keep your legs warm, smooth out the transition between a skirt and a pair of shoes, and rarely get much credit for the outfit they help create. But I like the idea of an accessory refusing to stay in the background, especially when the alternative is another look built around the same predictable statement piece.

Hailey Bieber’s latest campaign for Italian hosiery brand Calzedonia makes that case in head-to-toe floral lace. Instead of treating tights as the finishing touch, the campaign puts them on equal footing with the rest of the outfit, pairing the brand’s Floral Lace Tights with a matching Lace Top.

Lace Doesn't Have to Play Pretty

The appeal is in the contrast. Floral lace carries plenty of romantic associations, but worn sheer from shoulders to toes, it becomes something far more assertive. The black pattern creates a continuous line across the look, while the transparency keeps it from feeling heavy. An oversized black leather jacket adds another texture and shifts the mood away from anything too delicate.

That balance is what makes the styling interesting to me. Lace can easily become shorthand for sweetness or overt sensuality, depending on how it's presented. Here, the matching pieces make the fabric the main event, while the leather introduces a harder edge. The result doesn't need a bright color or a complicated silhouette to hold attention.

The Best Accessories Don't Always Behave Like Accessories

There's also something satisfying about giving hosiery this much importance. Tights are often purchased to solve a practical problem or fill a gap in an outfit. Even patterned pairs can end up hidden beneath a long hemline, their details noticed only when someone looks closely.

Calzedonia's campaign flips that relationship. The Floral Lace Tights become part of the outfit's architecture, rather than a layer added at the end. The coordinating top reinforces the pattern, creating a deliberate, almost uniform effect.

I'd be more inclined to borrow the idea than reproduce the entire look. A statement pair of lace tights can bring texture to an otherwise simple outfit, while the matching top offers a bolder option for anyone who wants the pattern to run uninterrupted. The point is not that every piece needs a matching partner. It's that hosiery can contribute more than coverage.

Let the Details Do the Talking

Calzedonia unveiled the campaign in October, continuing its partnership with Bieber, who became the brand's global digital ambassador earlier this year. The collection is available through Calzedonia's website.

What stays with me is the shift in emphasis. An outfit doesn't always need another jacket, bag, or piece of jewelry to feel considered. Sometimes, the detail that usually comes last deserves to lead. In this case, a pair of lace tights has enough personality to carry the whole look.
