Gucci to Receive Special Recognition at The Fashion Awards 2024
For "We Will Always Have London" campaign.
Gucci is about to snag a Special Recognition Award at The Fashion Awards 2024, and it’s about time. The British Fashion Council just confirmed that Gucci’s “We Will Always Have London” campaign, shot by legendary photographer Nan Goldin and directed by Creative Director Sabato De Sarno, is getting the spotlight it deserves. On December 2nd at the Royal Albert Hall, Gucci will be celebrated for its deep-rooted connection to London, honoring a campaign that’s part fashion statement, part cinematic ode to the city’s unbreakable creative spirit.
This campaign isn’t just about style; it’s a full-on vibe. With rock legend Debbie Harry and effortlessly cool Kelsey Lu set against the streets of London, and Blondie’s “Heart of Glass” as the soundtrack, Gucci’s tribute to London’s iconic edge is as bold as it gets. It’s not just a collection; it’s Gucci saying, “London, you’ll always have our heart.”
Gucci’s relationship with London runs deep, spanning more than a century, and this year they took it further by staging their Cruise 2025 show at Tate Modern, the ultimate symbol of the city’s artistic soul. If that wasn’t enough, Gucci also dropped Ancora Londra, the fourth book in their Prospettive series, capturing the city’s gritty yet glamorous energy through the eyes of cultural visionaries Charlene Prempeh and Lewis Dalton Gilbert.
But Gucci isn’t only celebrating London’s past—they’re betting big on its future. From supporting Tate Modern’s Electric Dreams exhibition to funding a three-year program for young creatives, Gucci’s mission is clear: to keep London’s creative scene alive and thriving. And with the Gucci Changemakers program offering scholarships at the London College of Fashion, they’re making sure the next wave of talent gets the spotlight they deserve.
British Fashion Council’s Caroline Rush summed it up perfectly: “We’re thrilled to honor Gucci for capturing what makes London…well, London. This campaign is a love letter to the city, showing off its influence on global fashion, art, and music. Gucci and Nan Goldin have nailed the spirit of London, and we can’t wait to celebrate them this December.”
