Florence Pugh Kicked Off LFW At Harris Reed FW23
Bringing the drama to high fashion.
Wearing an eye-catching look from the house, Florence Pugh unofficially opened London Fashion Week at the Harris Reed show with the fitting statement: “Clothing has a transformative power, the art of dressing up allows us to express who we truly are. Embrace the lamé and sequins of life because all the world’s a stage.”
Inspired by Shakespeare, Reed’s ready-to-wear FW23 collection referenced elevated costumes worn by actors and regal theaters during the Renaissance era, mixing playful fluid silhouettes with bold harlequin prints and shining accents.
Held inside the Tate Modern, the British-American designer showcased the message that life is a stage and we can transform our own destiny with some seriously killer outfits.
Building on the label’s signature repertoire of gender-fluid dramatic eveningwear, the theatrical collection strictly featured gold lamé from old theater curtains, deadstock black velvet, and gleaming silver sequins. Metallic frocks, fitted gowns with exaggerated fishtails, and puffball mini skirts were followed by flared trousers, lapel jackets, and diamond-printed catsuits for a star-power show.
