Filippa K Looked To The Slopes For FW23 Collection Ahead Of Copenhagen Fashion Week
Nodding to Werner Herzog’s ‘The Great Ecstasy of Woodcarver Steiner’.
Scandinavian brand Filippa K took to Denmark’s capital city to debut its Fall/Winter 2023 collection, keeping ahead of the Copenhagen Fashion Week antics due to start at the end of January.
Creative director Liisa Kessler took inspiration from Werner Herzog’s 1974 documentary ‘The Great Ecstasy of Woodcarver Steiner’, which depicts the life of world-class ski jumper Walter Steiner, so it’s no surprise that the collection is heavy on 70s Swedish ski wear references.
The collection puts a focus on outerwear, featuring an assortment of textures designed to battle winter weather including patent leather trench coats, sherpa floor-length denim, pastel faux fur coats, fuzzy teddy fleeces and athletic motocross jackets with matching shearling details.
Remaining true to form with the label’s effortless attitude and signature sleek style, the collection consists of 90s minimalist designs, form-fitting silhouettes, cool neutral tones and feminine touches, offering a fresh approach to modern après-ski style. Low-slung midi skirts and carpenter pants are paired with sleek crop tops and dainty knit cardigans, whilst oversized plaid blazers and boxy longline jackets create a confident, elevated ensemble.
