FILA Goes Back In Time For Its Latest Special Edition Collection
For this knitwear series, FILA redesigns historic pieces in honor of its 110th anniversary.
The Italian sport style brand FILA is celebrating one crazy milestone this year — 110 years of revolutionizing trends in fashion, pop culture and, of course, sportswear. In honor of a century of rich history, FILA has decided to “revisit the past and reimagine the future” by releasing another collaborative collection with a focus on knitwear cozy enough to hit the slopes.
FILA has teamed up with a multitude of Italian designers such as MSGM and Acqua di Parma to celebrate the brand’s Italian origins. But for its latest special edition collection, FILA has partnered with Italian brand Piacenza Cashmere for this ski-inspired series.
The brand has also instructed the help of “one of the most powerful stylists in the world,” Katie Grand. The stylist and culture curator “explored FILA’s rich history in sport and reinterpreted a series of archival styles,” according to FILA.
“Items reflect the innovative spirit of FILA, as they tell the story of the brand’s epic moments and the legendary individuals who transformed sports and fashion,” FILA said.
Inspired by the world skiing, Grand, FILA and Piacenza Cashmere have taken timeless 70s and 80s silhouettes such as the Argyle, Snow Time and White Rock sweaters and redesigned them for the modern era. In vintage colors of white, red and navy as well as new hues of yellow, orange and green, the knit sweaters are made from cashmere yarn in homage to FILA’s home of Biella, Italy. Other knit items include the Unisex Cashmere Winter Beanie and the Women’s Cashmere Girdle Skirt, which are made from wool.
The collection also features FILA’s iconic 90s ski jacket as well as the rain jacket from the Ski Team Italia line. Each piece is emblazoned with an embroidered patch with the classic 1973 F-Box logo to celebrate FILA’s anniversary.
Ranging from $118 to $628, you can shop the FILA 110th Anniversary Collection in select stores worldwide or on FILA’s website.
