The COVID-19 pandemic called an abrupt halt to global travel. However, it could not prevent the fashion world from continuing to move forward at its usual breathless pace.

2022 will see cities worldwide hosting fashion shows that will attract the great and the good of the world of fashion while also allowing fashion-minded travelers to gorge themselves in high-class department stores again.

Finding accommodation, particularly during fashion weeks in cities around the world isn’t always easy, however, Rentola offers excellent apartments to let around the globe in attractive and central locations where fashion week is to be found.

With travel now possible, where should you go to get the very best in fashion?

1.    Paris, France

In the eyes of those in the know, Paris is the undisputed pinnacle of the fashion world. With a history dating back to the 15th Century, the city continues to play host to many of the world’s most recognizable and elite brands.

The list reads like a who’s who of high-end fashion, from Louis Vuitton to Dior, Yves Saint-Laurent to Givenchy and Chanel.

Paris continues to be the world’s leading fashion destination today, and Paris Fashion Week continues to go from strength to strength.

As well as an unending range of fashion houses to visit, salivate and spend hard-earned money in, Paris caters for every other taste.

From the art houses at the Palais Galliera and Louvre to the Yves Saint Laurent Museum, those with an eye for the artistic will be well sated. Meanwhile, the range of cuisine, historical sights and the chance to walk along the River Seine will add more interest and splendor to any visit to the City of Light.

2.    London, United Kingdom

Think London fashion, and there’s a good chance you’ll think of the swinging 60s, Mary Portas, mini-skirts, the Union Jack, Rolling Stones and Carnaby Street.

Scratch a little further, and you’ll find that London has always been at the cutting edge of fashion. Throughout the 70s and 80s, it was at the forefront of the punk culture, through Vivienne Westwood, that quickly found its way to the United States and Europe as a response to Britain’s suffocating conservatism.

Today, London plays home to the most exemplary fashion schools in the world, giving a grounding to the great and the good of the British and global fashion world.

Leading lights in Britain include Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen and Paul Smith, while London Fashion Week helps promote more than 250 British brands to a global audience each year.

As well as the bustling fashion-conscious West End, where it’s possible to shop for hours on end, London is one of the most richly diverse cities in the world, with cultural attractions and incredible food from around the world readily available.

3.    New York, USA

Another city that has been a long-time home for some of the world’s biggest names in fashion, such as Ralph Lauren, Vera Wang and Donna Karan, New York, is increasingly centering on becoming the most forward-thinking fashion city in the world.

Boasting more than 183,000 people in the world of fashion alone, the influences of the five boroughs can be found in its eclectic range of styles, mainly street clothing, where it has overtaken Tokyo as the capital of streetwear brands, such as Supreme.

With ambassadors including Kanye West, Travis Scott and several other recognizable faces in the world of music, film and popular culture, it’s no wonder that New York continues to rise in the consciousness of those with the finger on the fashionable pulse.

In addition to the world-famous garment district, New York provides the best in musical theatre on Broadway, a unique slice of American dining and more famous sights than you can imagine to occupy the fashion-savvy traveller when they’re not busy shopping.

4.    Milan, Italy

The best of classical and contemporary Italian fashion will have its roots firmly ensconced in the northern city of Milan.

Names such as Versace, Gucci, Prada, Dolce & Gabanna and Roberto Cavalli all cut their fashion design teeth in Italy’s fashion capital with the level of artisan craftsmanship and quality of fabric giving Italian fashion its elevated name.

Travelers wanting to shop will adore the world’s oldest shopping center, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, which dates back to the 19th Century and provides a host of high-end designer outlets with boutique, artisan producers of what is still some of the finest fashion in the world.

Although the number of graduates from Milan’s fashion schools has declined slightly over recent years, Milan Fashion Week remains the premier show for the cream of Italian and European designers to display their latest wares and provides a springboard for the up-and-coming crop of new designers to achieve an international profile.

Travelers will also love the taste of authentic Italian cuisine, the astonishing gothic beauty of the Duomo di Milano and medieval Sforzesco Castle, which houses many of Milan’s finest artistic treasures.
