Does Anyone Care About The Red Carpet Anymore?

The internet’s obsessed with the model-off-duty look.

Celebrities undeniably have a major influence on fashion and current trends, and everyone online wants to style themselves like their favorite celebrity.

I’ve noticed a major shift in celeb fashion discourse lately, with red carpet looks taking a backseat in these conversations. Rather than obsessing over extravagant dresses, bold makeup, and statement jewelry, people seem to care more about casual, day-to-day street style. In other words, we love celebrity outfits that remind us they’re just like us.

My Instagram feed is flooded with paparazzi pictures of celebrities coming from the gym, going to dinner, grabbing coffee, or even just going for a walk. Taylor Swift is one I particularly can’t seem to escape. Everywhere she goes — and every outfit she wears — is caught by the paps, with everyone talking about her latest look and seemingly selling it out instantly.

“Model-off-duty” has been a Pinterest buzzphrase for a while now, with almost every basic outfit being attributed to this aesthetic. I think this further proves the current emphasis on wearable fashion. People want to dress comfortably and practically for their everyday lives. The office, unfortunately, isn’t a runway.

My current favorite paparazzi pics have to be of Kendall Jenner and Jacob Elordi out in London. As everyone online seems to think, they look great together, and they always dress in well-coordinated outfits. They keep it simple with classic silhouettes, but the fit and tailoring are absolute perfection, so much so that I can’t stop thinking about them.
